My great grandmother was a beautiful beader, my grandmother could bead, my mom can kind of, and I can barely. It’s All So Incredibly Loud talks about having the knowledge of a historical expression inside of you but not having direct access to that knowledge. I am a formally trained photographer and an informally trained beader so the convergence of these two mediums inside the frame makes sense to me and where I am at on all of my journeys. While mainly speaking about reviving knowledges within the body the series also explores the overwhelming nature of being alive and the loss that comes with it. There are days are where the grief is barely visible and days where it is the only thing I can see, it really depends on the day, which is also why I made the conscious decision to add loose beads physically inside the frame, it always shows up different. The name comes from a song by the band Glass Animals with the same title and in which the song discusses how quiet moments are often the loudest, something I know to be true.
